Wizard of Oz

Uno de mis cuentos favoritos lo es el Mago de Oz, y una de las cosas que más me gusta hacer es pintar. No es necesariamente lo que mejor hago, sin embargo es algo de lo que más me reta a ser mejor. Tenía semanas de no revisar mis blogs y hace tres días me di a la tarea de revisarlos. Mi mayor sorpresa fue encontrar el reto de http://bestieschallenge.blogspot , My Besties of Oz. 

One of my favorite stories is Wizard of Oz, and one of the things I like to do is paint. It's not necessarily what I do best, but it is something that challenges me to be better. I had weeks of not checking my blogs and three days ago I gave myself the task of checking them. My biggest surprise was finding the challenge of http://bestieschallenge.blogspot, My Besties of Oz.

Así que tomé la decisión de participar en este reto. Empece a pintar hace dos días y termine faltando algunos minutos para que se cerrara el plazo de recepción de proyectos. Trabaje en lápiz acuarelables, que es de lo que más me gusta usar. Utilice las Besties of Oz y además agregue algunos personajes que recordaba del cuento, tratando de recrear éste fantástico cuento. 

So, I decided to participate in this challenge. I started painting two days ago and finished missing some minutes to close the deadline for receipt of projects. Work in watercolor pencil, which is what I like to use. I use the Besties of Oz and I also added some characters that I remembered, trying to recreate this fantastic story.

Este es el frente de mi tarjeta. Aquí se puede apreciar al señor espantapájaros, una de las brujas malas, Dorothy (el personaje principal) y la cigüeña, que aunque no es personaje principal, si forma parte del repertorio. Traté de usar colores lo más parecido posible a los de la narración.

This is the front of my card. Here you can see Mr. Scarecrow, one of the wicked witches, Dorothy (the main character) and the stork, which although is not the main character, whether it is part of the characters. I tried to use colors as similar as possible to those of the narrative.

Aquí está la parte interna de la tarjeta en donde nos encontramos con otros de los personajes, algunos más importantes, otros no tanto. Y a continuación algunos acercamientos para poder apreciar los detalles.

Here is the inside of the card where we meet other characters, some major, some not so. And then some approaches to appreciate the details.

Este es el hombre hojalata, está pintado en lápiz de color metálico acuarelable, en diferentes tonos diferentes y lo combine con turquesa, para darle un poquito de vida.

This is the tin man, is painted in metallic watercolor pencil, in different shades and combine with turquoise, to give a little life.

Esta, aunque sea una bruja, es muy coqueta. Para ésta yo use tonos rojos y una pequeña cantidad de glitter.

This, even a witch, is very charming. For this I used red and a small amount of glitter.

And finally, the lovely Dorothy and her beloved pet!
